Disrupted mail deliveries in central NZ today
Postal deliveries have been disrupted across large parts of the central region of New Zealand today, due to severe weather conditions.
The delivery of mail has been suspended for the day across most of the region bordered by Wanganui and Taupo in the north, and Wellington and Picton in the south.
There will be also be smaller scale disruptions to some mail delivery across the wider North Island.
"The safety of our Posties is paramount," New Zealand Post spokesman Michael Tull said today. "We leave the decision as to whether to postpone delivery up to the team leaders in each of our mail centres, who are in the best position to gauge local conditions.
"We regret any inconvenience to customers, but I'm sure householders in the affected areas will understand our need to put safety first.
"Our teams will work hard to ensure that any mail affected by this delay is promptly delivered when the weather bomb passes," Michael Tull said.
