Storm Update 4 from Whangarei District Council

Storm Update 4 from Whangarei District Council

19 March 2012

Whangarei District Council has a crew of Civil Defence staff on standby ready to respond if any overnight emergencies occur as a result of the past 24 hours of bad weather.

Crews will be out on the roads before first light Tuesday to check for damage, slips, fallen trees, flooding and washouts, reporting back to Council and attending to issues as soon as possible.

Drivers are warned to take great care on the roads as conditions may have changed over night. Roads that were clear may be blocked or flooded, stock may be loose, and roads may be greasy with clay and gravel.

Don’t enter flood waters – they may be covering holes or debris.

Check the Council Website www.wdc.govt.nz for roading updates and listen to the radio, in particular MoreFM or Newstalk ZB.
