Mail deliveries
disrupted in Taranaki and Taupo
Weather has
forced the postponement of postal deliveries to large parts
of the central North Island today (Tuesday) – including
the Taranaki region and Taupo.
Deliveries to the Taranaki District – including New Plymouth, Okato, Waitara, Inglewood, Stratford, Eltham, Hawera and Manaia - have been deferred for the day
Deliveries to Taupo have also been postponed for today, with some rural delivery routes in the wider Taupo District also affected.
New Zealand Post spokesman Michael Tull says the decision to postpone was made in the interests of safety.
“Extreme winds, coupled with flooding and a number of road closures, make this the only sensible course of action,” Michael Tull said.
“We apologise for any inconvenience, and will work hard to deliver any delayed mail items in a speedy manner once this storm has passed,” he said
