Pete Bethune’s Earthrace Conservation New Zealand

Pete Bethune’s Earthrace Conservation New Zealand

With the latest figures released for the estimated remaining Maui’s dolphins at 55 and the Hector’s dolphins still in decline Earthrace New Zealand is strongly in support of urgent measures being put in place by the current government to save them from extinction.

Along with a number of other conservation groups, Earthrace will be participating in March for the Maui’s in Wellington on Tuesday the 3rd of April and is calling for all people concerned to join them. Starting at 18 Allen St at 1pm, the march will pass both DOC and MAF and end at parliament at 2pm. A number of people will be speaker in relation to this critical situation, including Dr Liz Slooten, Pete Bethune and Gareth Hughes. Full details of the march and speakers can be found at www.mauisdolphin.com.

If immediate action is not undertaken to increase the protection for our ‘New Zealand’ dolphins we will see them join a sad list of creatures that have been lost forever. The time to act is now!
