to Get the Best Results From Their Planting

Marking the beginning of the planting
season, Restoration Day 2012 is bringing
together representatives from over 60 restoration
groups in the Wellington region to network and take part in
workshops that help them get the best results for their
planting projects.
At this year's event there
will practical hands-on workshops on planting and
monitoring at the Greendale Reserve as well as a chance to
walk along Southward's native remnant bushwalk, learning
about sourcing seeds and plants along the way. There will
also be talks at Southwards on propagation, and animal and
plant pest control.
Co-hosted by the Department
of Conservation and Greater Wellington Regional Council,
with support from territorial authorities, Restoration Day
offers groups the chance to learn new skills, network, and
celebrate the results of their labour.
Keynote
speaker is John Sawyer, Principal Natural Heritage
Specialist, Auckland Council. John's speech - entitled
Beyond the Grief - opportunities for rebuilding
ecological resillience - will address some ideas
for achieving critically important conservation outcomes in
the Wellington
region.
