Submissions Closed For Draft Long Term Plan
The Waikato District Council has received almost 260 submissions from the public about the draft Long Term Plan.
Waikato district Mayor Allan Sanson said initial analysis of the feedback is providing insight into public opinion about the issues and proposals within the council’s plan.
“The submissions we have received will provide us with plenty of food for thought as we make our decisions.” Mayor Sanson said.
“Some submitters have asked to speak at the hearings, giving them a further opportunity to expand on what they see are the issues.”
Analysis so far shows that affordability is still the top issue, with the question of responsible dog ownership high on people’s priority list.
“We also asked residents about waste management and minimisation and this has also drawn a strong response from submitters,” Mayor Sanson said.
Hearings and the council’s deliberations will be held from May 21. The final plan will be adopted on Tuesday, 26 June 2012.
