Saints Final Home Game to Benefit Sick
Kids
Two-time defending champions, the Wellington Saints, will have extra inspiration for their final home game this season as they play in support of patients at Wellington Children’s Hospital.
Coach Pero Cameron and his players have made regular visits this season to the children’s hospital, their official charity.
“Being part of the Saints journey this season has been a real thrill” says Maria Quigley, spokesperson for Wellington Hospitals and Health Foundation.
“Children in hospital look forward to their visits immensely. The time they spend with families has a direct impact on how children feel that day” she said.
The game against the Auckland Pirates this Friday is expected to be an action packed nail-biter as the two teams square off for positions in the TAB Final Four 2012 to be held next weekend in Wellington on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May.
Funds will be raised for the children’s hospital through a gold coin collection at the venue and through tickets sold by the charity.
To mark the special occasion, the Wellington Saints will be donating one of their playing uniforms which will be auctioned off on Trade Me by the hospital’s charity Wellington Hospitals & Health Foundation.
“Whether you are a basketball fan or never been to a game before, you will have a great night out in support of the Wellington Saints and Wellington Children's Hospital” Tara Hakiwai.
“Meet HOSPI the hospital lion, donate to the cause and cheer our Saints into the Finals” said Miss Hakiwai.
Tickets can be purchased through Ticketek or for $5 each at The Gift Shop in the front entrance of Wellington Hospital. (Children under 5 years of age do not require a ticket).
