New Plymouth: Watch the Long-Term Plan Hearings Online
Watch the Long-Term Plan Hearings Online
25 May 2012
Following a record number of submissions to the Council’s Draft Long-Term Plan, the public are now being encouraged to watch the upcoming public hearings and debate that will lead to the plan being finalised in June.
But that won’t require a trip to the Civic Centre because the hearings and subsequent council meetings will be streamed live at newplymouthnz.com, with recordings also available.
Mayor Harry Duynhoven says: “The level of public interest in the draft plan has been fantastic to witness. It shows how much passion the community has for the future of our wonderful district.
“The streaming and recording of the hearings and meetings will give everyone a chance to hear a wide range of views from members of the community, as well as the council debate to decide the final shape of the plan.
“People are of course more than welcome to attend the hearings and debate in person but if that’s not convenient they can watch online, either live or at a time that suits them better.”
Four days of hearings are scheduled for Tuesday 29 May to Friday 1 June. The Council will meet on 6 June to debate and agree the final plan, with formal sign-off at a meeting on 26 June.
New Plymouth District Council is one of only three New Zealand councils to broadcast its meetings online.
