Christchurch’s finest homes
and notable chefs join forces to help raise funds for Ronald
McDonald House South Island
Christchurch will
become host to an evening of simultaneous dinner parties in
June, in a bid to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House
South Island.
Supper Club @ Home, to be held on Friday, June 22, will involve people opening up their stunning home, unique venue or elite restaurant, to a table of eight for the evening. Each location will be matched with a notable chef, who will have full reign in the kitchen whilst cooking a three-course meal.
Participating guests will not know where they will be dining, or who will be cooking for them, until it is revealed by way of random draw at a pre-dinner cocktail function to be held at the Westpac Hub.
A table of eight costs $1160, with all proceeds going directly to Ronald McDonald House South Island – a facility that provides free accommodation and support to families who must leave their community and travel to Christchurch for their child’s hospital care.
Supper Club, now in its seventh year, is traditionally held in just restaurants. However after the closure of many Christchurch establishments following the February 22 earthquake, the decision was made to slightly reinvent the wheel and introduce Supper Club @ Home in October 2011.
The event was such a success that it was jointly awarded the highest accolade at the recent Fundraising Institute of New Zealand Awards evening - taking home the Premier Fundraising Award for Excellence 2012.
“Supper Club @ Home provides guests with the rare opportunity to dine inside some of Christchurch’s most beautiful homes and stunning venues, with their own personal chef and host for the evening,” says Lizzie Dyer, Ronald McDonald House South Island Corporate Sponsorship Manager.
Chefs include the likes of Peter Thornley, one of
New Zealand’s most acclaimed chefs, Christchurch
Casino’s award-winning Richard Hingston, Jamie Bennett
from Taste Events Company, Andrew Brown from The George, and
Martin Weiss from Rotherhams of
Riccarton.
