‘Dogs Online’ a
first for Rotorua
ROTORUA 05.06.12 : From this week Rotorua residents can, for the first time, renew annual dog registrations, apply to register new dogs, pay registration fees, update dog and owner details and request new dog tags - all at the click of a mouse.
Dogs Online is a new e-facility developed over recent months by Rotorua District Council (RDC) as a joint venture partnership with Hamilton City Council, and launched today.
Rotorua’s Dogs Online services can be accessed on the council website rdc.govt.nz.
RDC Corporate & Customer Services group manager Jean-Paul Gaston says it is the first comprehensive online dog registration and dog information management site of its kind in the country.
“Dog owners are able to pay their fees by credit or debit card, and soon we’ll add a direct account-to-account bank transfer payment option as well,” he said.
"Rotorua has around 10,000 dogs and if the new online facility proves as popular as we anticipate, we can expect a substantial reduction in foot traffic and fewer delays at our Customer Centre over peak dog registration periods.
"Ultimately this will produce considerable savings in time and costs for the council and for our customers as well; so it's a real win-win situation. It also means registrations can be processed and owner details updated 24/7, from the comfort of home We see this as further development in providing our customers with super service."
To encourage Rotorua dog owners to renew their annual dog registrations online, Rotorua District Council is putting up for grabs a prize draw of a dog kennel and other doggie goodies for people who renew their dog registration at Dogs Online before the official deadline of 30 June.
More information about Dogs Online is on the Rotorua District Council website rdc.govt.nz.
