Wellington Mission’s winter food collection

Wellington City Missioner, Rev Susan Blaikie says ‘The Mission provides weekly food parcels to individuals and families we serve while helping them return to a financially sustainable position through our budget advice service. It is a great privilege and joy to see the look of relief when we tell those we serve that we will supplement their weekly food shop for a short time with a food parcel. It is the most basic right of all people to receive daily bread, and to provide meals to those who depend on them such as children, teenagers or seniors. Our Foodbank not only provides food for nutrition; it breaks the cycle of feeling isolated, unheard, anxious or left out. In contributing to our Brown Paper Bag winter food collection, you’re providing for a very real need to those in our neighbourhoods who are at risk or struggling’.
A team of Official Wellington City Mission Collectors will also be placed at approved supermarkets and malls throughout Greater Wellington on Saturday 16 June accepting donations of food and money.
Please show your support for those who are going through a tough time, by helping The Mission collect food this winter. And remember – people don’t need to have a special Mission Brown Paper Bag to make a food donation – any bag will do!
The Wellington City
Mission would like to thank event partners The Breeze; PwC;
The Dominion Post, Z Energy and
wellpack.
