Christchurch-based Tandem Studios Renews Contract
Christchurch-based Tandem Studios renews contract to
deliver Parliamentary content using its own world-leading
online innovation
Christchurch-based Tandem
Studios announces that it has renewed its contract to
deliver Parliamentary content from the House of
Representatives using its own leading edge online media tool
LaBon™ (Living and Breathing Online Newsletter).
Since beginning its work with the Clerk of the House of Representatives in 2009, Tandem Studios has created a content-based solution for the website www.inthehouse.co.nz that combines Parliament TV with their unique online media tool LaBon™.
Tandem Studios has created more than 12,190 videos for the House of Representatives over the past three years, resulting in nearly 600,000 individual views.
The www.inthehouse.co.nz website, which is hosted in Christchurch, has continued to work and be accessible throughout the Canterbury earthquakes.
“We are delighted to be renewing our contract with the Clerk of the House of Representatives and providing this beneficial service to our parliamentary democracy,” said Tandem Studios’ Managing Director, Dave Dunlay.
“Not many people are able to sit through six hours of live parliamentary television and by renewing its commitment to this unique and valuable online media tool the House of Representatives is demonstrating its belief in open government.”
Tandem Studios records,
re-formats and re-purposes Parliament’s traditional
content and publishes it on the www.inthehouse.co.nz in
small segments that are easy to search
for and locate.
The www.inthehouse.co.nz website means that
for the first time you can view and hear your local
politician in action without having to watch the entire
television
broadcast.”
Users and viewers of www.inthehouse.co.nz site are varied, from university students or lecturers and legal teams doing research, to the media, political commentators and bloggers, to individuals with a passion for politics. Many people within Government use the system too, including Members of Parliament, who use the site to share their contributions to public debate with constituents through their own social media channels and to stay abreast of particular topics of interest within the house.
Tandem Studios’ work with www.inthehouse.co.nz has now led to interest from around New Zealand and from the Australian federal government.
“To capture an online audience, all content must engage, entertain, connect and inform,” said Dunlay, “and it must be made available to view and share when the online audience wants it, in what is known as a ‘time shifted’ manner, rather than watching it live on television
“We know that more and more people globally are watching television content online at a time that suits them and the results achieved with www.inthehouse.co.nz confirm that.”
The content on www.inthehouse.co.nz is
easily digestible and accessible for the New Zealand public.
It has captured key moments in our nation’s history, such
as the reaction of politicians and the Prime Minister to the
Christchurch 22 February 2011 Earthquake. Using LaBon™ all
of the content can be viewed by everyone at any time and
almost
anywhere on any device with an internet
connection, and not just by those few who are dedicated
enough to sit through hours of live parliamentary television
broadcast.
“We designed the whole LaBon™ concept, with the foundation concept of making content as easy to find as possible to inform the New Zealand public about what is happening within their Parliament. The key feature of LaBon™ is that it creates a video library where a video from three years ago is just as easy to find as the latest posting. It really does put the Parliamentary content at people’s fingertips.”
