WESTLAND DISTRICT COUNCIL APPOINTS NEW CEO

New CEO announced for Westland District Council.

Mayor Maureen Pugh announced today that Hasting's current Group Manager: Community Facilities and Programmes, Tanya Winter has been appointed the new Chief Executive of Westland District Council.


"Council undertook a robust and thorough recruitment process to attract the best possible candidates for this key role. Tanya Winter's proven skills, depth of experience and strong local government relationships stood out." said Mayor Pugh.

"Her knowledge and passion for local government and clear vision for the organisation means Westland District Council is absolutely delighted and we're confident Tanya will hit the ground running and be a strong leader in taking our organisation to further success."

Tanya will start her new role in September. As CEO, her responsibilities will entail driving the strategic direction and management of the organisation and ensuring all Council strategies are in line with Council's Long Term Plan and Vision.

Tanya Winter has many years of experience in local government, including Waitaki and Hutt City. Tanya was recently part of an award winning team that competed in the Australasian finals of the 2012 LGMA Management Challenge in Melbourne in June. Hastings beat 7 other Australian local authorities to win the top prize.


Tanya Winter is looking forward to the challenges and opportunities her new position will present.

Tanya Winter replaces CEO Robin Reeves who retires at the end of September. ENDS
