Redirecting mail in the residential Red Zone

Redirecting mail in the residential Red Zone

Owners of properties in the residential Red Zone are reminded to redirect their mail from the date they settle the sale of their property to the Crown.

New Zealand Post will stop deliveries to these properties from the settlement date, which is when the former owner is required to move out by. Arrangements need to be made for mail to be redirected from this date.

Property owners that have already settled with the Crown and moved out of their property should check that their mail is being redirected.

The build-up of mail in letterboxes of vacant residential Red Zone properties is an issue that has raised concern in some communities because it can be a signal that properties are unoccupied and may attract opportunist crime.

For more information and to organise redirection, visit a Post Shop or go to http://www.nzpost.co.nz/receiving-mail/redirect-mail.
