Success Breeds Success With Business Awards
Local businesses have two weeks left to enter the 2012 Westpac Auckland North Business Awards, a step that could lead to future success according to one previous entrant.
When EasiYo Products Limited entered the awards in 2010, chief executive Paul O’Brien had to convince his team it was a good idea. The company went on to win that year’s excellence in exporting award and the overall title of supreme winner.
“Until you enter that first business awards, it’s easy to dismiss the difference it can make to the business,” says Paul O’Brien. “Since our win two years ago in the Westpac Auckland North Business Awards, we’ve entered other industry and business awards, and it’s become ingrained in our team culture to embrace success.”
In the past two years, EasiYo and its range of make at home yogurt products, has won two national exporting awards and was highly commended in awards for workforce diversity. This year alone the company has entered two high profile awards, where they’ve made finalist in one and are still waiting to hear the outcome from the other.
After a year sponsoring the 2011 Westpac Auckland North Business Awards, EasiYo is throwing its hat back in the ring this year as an entrant.
“Success breeds success,” adds Paul O’Brien, “by opening everyone’s eyes, from our staff, to our board and to our customers, it shows we are striving to set the standard for best practice. It’s a great chance to take an overall look at your business instead of constantly working in it.
“All our awards are hanging in the board room where all the staff can see them. It’s a constant reminder of what we can achieve and where we are heading, and the staff are proud to be a part of that.”
Now in its 15th season, the 2012 Westpac Auckland North Business Awards, run by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), is in full swing. ATEED’s Manager Business Growth – North, Ngaio Merrick, says it isn’t too late to enter these iconic awards.
“We’ve got a wonderful team of business coaches keen to help businesses take advantage of entering the awards. It offers the opportunity to celebrate your business success story, learn more about its strengths and challenges and build on its potential for the future. To get so many benefits, at no cost, entering is a win-win,” says Ms Merrick.
And EasiYo agrees: “It’s a journey that’s worth experiencing. It’s intense, but not difficult and offers an opportunity to celebrate,” says Mr O’Brien.
Entries for the Westpac Auckland North Business Awards close at 5pm, Thursday 2 August. For more information visit www.ateed.co.nz/awards
