All hands to spades this weekend at Linklater Reserve
The Council is looking for people with spades to come along and help this weekend at a community planting day at Linklater Reserve.
There are over 700 plants that are now ready to be planted and the Council is looking for volunteers who have a spade and a pair of gloves and some spare time on Sunday.
Where: Linklater Reserve off Kelvin Grove
Road
When: Sunday 12 August 2012 at
2pm
Please bring: Spade, gloves, gumboots,
jacket
Please note: No toilet on site.
Plants will include a mix of natives including kowhai, lemonwood, lacebark, manuka, kahikatea, cabbage trees and tree daisy. The Council would like to thank local Christian conservation group A Roacha Manawatu, who have grown all plants from eco-sourced seed and donated them to the Council to be used on local projects.
Development of the Reserve has been progressing well with both the walking track and pump track almost complete and previous plantings well established.
Children are welcome to bring their bikes and try the pump track while parents help with planting.
