Mt Ruapehu Xtreme
Mt Ruapehu is currently experiencing
the best conditions of the season with top to bottom skiing,
and a line up of top events happening over the next few
weeks.
Mt Ruapehu General Manager, Dave Mazey says the
snow fall over the past week has made a significant
difference to the snow base and the mountain is in the best
form of the season.
“Recent snow fall increased significantly over the past few days and the conditions for skiing and boarding couldn’t be better. To top it off the outlook for the coming week is looking spectacular, with sunshine and blue skies forecast,” he says.
“As well as offering a range of quality skiing and boarding programmes, for ladies who fancy a week at the mountain skiing or snowboarding with likeminded ladies, the ever popular Ladies Week, in association with Ice Breaker, is taking off at Mt Ruapehu next week.”
The Ladies Week programme consists of four hours per day of high quality group coaching with top female instructors, with skiers grouped with others of similar skiing or snowboarding ability.
Ladies Week programme coordinator, Kat Mackenzie says Ladies Weeks are the perfect opportunity to get together with your friends and spend some time together perfecting your skills on the mountain.
“Ladies Weeks are a fantastic way to fine tune your skiing and boarding skills, as well as learn other valuable tips to master the mountain. Continuous tuition over the four days allows ladies to really improve their skills in a comfortable, social and fun environment,” she says.
The programme runs from Monday to Thursday with Friday set as a contingency day.
Mt Ruapehu is also gearing up to host the Mt Ruapehu Xtreme competition next month, when world champion free ride skiers and boarders will descend on Mt Ruapehu to ride the gnarliest terrain Whakapapa Ski area can offer. The competition runs from the 10th - 15th September 2012.
