TEDx takes off in Te Aro!
Today, the TEDxTeAro team are thrilled to announce that this November TEDx will be showcasing innovative ideas from the coolest little capital in the world.
TEDxTeAro organiser DK says that Wellington is a natural location for the event:
“We’re excited to bring TEDx to Wellington, where there’s no shortage of amazing ideas and stories. We really want the Wellington community to participate in suggesting individuals & ideas which deserve to be shared.”
TED (Technology Entertainment and Design) is a nonprofit devoted to “ideas worth spreading”, holding events where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Their talks are then made freely available online.
TED has exploded onto the world stage in recent years, but Wellington hasn’t had a chance to share their ideas since TEDxYouth@Wellington in 2010. Wellingtonians have the opportunity to nominate speakers and volunteer at the event on the TEDxTeAro site [link: http://tedxtearo.co.nz/help].
TEDxTeAro is planned for November 2012, with venue & speakers still to be confirmed.
DK is joined by a big pool of Wellington talent. He says: “The energy for this event comes from a group of committed local companies who are supporting both the organisation and the running of the event. Amongst these, CORE Education and Catalyst90 have been in from the ground up and are now joined by Enspiral, ShowGizmo and 1-night.”
“Wellington has the title of the coolest little capital in the world, this November, our aim is to share with the world how true that really is.”

About TED &
TEDx
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading,
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring
people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx
event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark
deep discussion and connection in a small group. These
local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x =
independently organized TED event. The TED Conference
provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but
individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to
certain rules and
regulations.)
