Fare change for Feilding passengers

17 September, 2012

Fare change for Feilding passengers

After 10 years of steady fares, the price to travel between Feilding and Palmerston North or Feilding and Bunnythorpe by bus will increase.

The fare increases will take effect on 1 October 2012 and will bring sections 2 and 3 into line with changes made to section 1 fares last year.

Chair of Horizons Passenger Transport Committee Vern Chettleburgh says the Feilding services have experienced good growth with July numbers up 856 trips on the same time last year. However, with rising fuel and running costs an increase is necessary to ensure a sustainable service.

“Fares on sections 2 and 3 have been maintained at their current prices for a decade. While fares need to increase to meet running costs, the service will remain a cheaper option for those who would otherwise travel by car,” he says.

The tables below display new section 2 and 3 fares for passengers paying by cash or GoCard, the prepaid travel cards. SuperGold card holders and under fives will continue to travel for free.
