Unique neighbourhood ideas needed

Applications for the Local Initiatives Fund will open on 1 October 2012. The fund is available to help develop ideas that have a positive impact on local neighbourhoods, disadvantaged communities and the voluntary sector.

This is a chance for new groups or not-for-profit organisations to apply for funding to help get new initiatives off the ground.

The funding pool of $25,000 is specifically targeted at the support of opportunities which:

· Increase social connectedness in neighbourhoods

· Increase social connectedness in disadvantaged communities

· Result in a strong and sustainable voluntary sector

· Result in active citizenship

The Fund has provided for some highly successful projects, including the Crewe Crescent Community Garden which proved so successful that the organising committee were awarded a commendation in the Health and Wellbeing category of the TrustPower Palmerston North Community Awards earlier this year.

Applications close on Wednesday 31 October 2012 at 4pm. Guidelines and application forms are available from pncc.govt.nz, the Customer Service Centre Squareside, any branch of the City Library or you can email: janet.ellery@pncc.govt.nz.
