Buses replace some trains this
weekend
Buses will replace some trains this weekend while major works associated with the ongoing upgrade and electrification of Auckland’s rail network is carried out.
Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 October
• Western Line – buses replace all
trains
• Eastern and Manukau Line – buses
replace all trains
• Onehunga Line – open
• Southern Line, buses replace trains from
Otahuhu to Papakura

Please be aware that there may be minor delays to services next week to allow for the weekend works to settle in.
Preparatory works for electric trains which includes installing overhead wires and foundation works for the masts at various points and stations along the network is continuing. This work can only be carried out when there are no trains running.
At the same time track maintenance works, and signaling works will be carried out. Work at the Panmure station as part of the AMETI project is also continuing.
As part of the station improvements at Papakura, KiwiRail is rearranging the tracks to provide a dedicated freight line through the station. Some tracks will be removed this weekend while some tracks will be reinstated and formations rebuilt. At the same time drainage works and tree pruning will be done.
