Celebrate ‘Olde Hallow’s Eve’ at Motat

To celebrate the most hair-raising holiday of the year, Halloween, MOTAT will be transforming its historic surroundings into a night of thrills and chills for the whole family at its Victorian ‘Olde Hallow’s Eve’ event on Saturday the 27th of October.

MOTAT Marketing Manager, Deanna Wharton, says the event, which begins at dusk, will be an entertaining night where kids and adults alike are invited to dress up and enjoy the fun of Halloween in a unique Victorian environment.

“MOTAT is the perfect setting to celebrate a uniquely Victorian Halloween. Back in Victorian times, people knew how to scare and they knew how to do it in style. From Jack the Ripper to Dracula and the strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, many ideas were formed in Victorian times that are the basis of horror today. MOTAT has a very different atmosphere in the dark and we’re looking forward to the night of spooks, set amongst MOTAT’s Victorian Village and exhibition spaces.

“We know that not everyone is able to withstand true Victorian terror, so we’ll have a variety of activities on offer catered for each person in the family - from spine-chilling activities for those up for a thrill, to not-so-scary activities for the younger ones. Visitors will be able to climb aboard a haunted tram or horse and carriage and get a view of everyone’s costumes from above, walk down the dreaded hallway of horrors or make a menacing mask to terrify friends in our Make and Take activity,” says Mrs Wharton.

MOTAT invited families to the Halloween event for the first time last year, and following the success of the event and overwhelmingly positive response, it decided to bring ‘Olde Hallow’s Eve’ back again for an even bigger and better event.

“We have a special new twist to the event this year and we’ve added a lot of new activities and amusements along with some of last year’s favourites, so this ‘Olde Hallow’s Eve’ should be the best yet. We’re looking forward to sharing another fantastic Halloween event with our visitors.

“An example of a new feature is the sugar skull parade, where visitors will be able to witness beautiful skull designs and bright colours in a procession through MOTAT’s Victorian streets,” says Mrs Wharton.

MOTAT is inviting people to bring along a pumpkin lantern to go on display and come dressed up in a Halloween costume for the night of frights.

“We’ll have special prizes going to those who have the best costumes and the most creatively carved pumpkins, so we are expecting to see an array of the mysterious and spectacular at ‘Olde Hallow’s Eve,” says Mrs Wharton.

‘Olde Hallow’s Eve’ pre-sale tickets are now available for purchase from the MOTAT shop on Great North Road Door sales will also be available on the night.

Event will take place rain or shine.
Tickets may be transferred but are not refundable.
