Eco Design Advisors meet to promote healthier homes and environment

The 2012 Eco Design Advisors is being staged in Hamilton this week, bringing together specialists in eco design from local and central government. The theme of the conference is taking the next step towards healthier homes and the environment, and features a lineup of world-class speakers.

Staged for six years, this conference is open for the first time to the public this year and will appeal to those who are seeking good technical information on eco design and real-world solutions for those interested in building smarter.

With topics from photovoltaics through to humidity in buildings and window treatments, the conference features inspirational keynote speaker Auckland University Associate Professor Niki Harre, an expert in sustainability, and author of Psychology for a Better World.

Other speakers include BRANZ’s Senior Environmental Building Researcher Roman Jaques, Environschools National Director Heidi Mardon, CBC Wastewater Director Craig Brown, Ecolnnovation Chief Engineer and Smartdrive guru Michael Lawley, Victoria University’s School of Architecture Senior Lecturer Nigel Isaacs, and Beacon Pathway’s Verney Ryan.

Eco Designers from around New Zealand, leaders in building technology and design, and over 120 experts in the field will gather for the event. In convening the event, local Eco-Designer Ian Mayes said the event is a must attend for those who care about eco-design and sustainable building processes.

“The line-up of professionally researched and well-presented topics will deliver real value to those attending”, he said.

The event is made possible through the ongoing support of BRANZ and Beacon Pathway.
