Upgraded Playground Equipment for Tauhara Park
Children in Hamilton’s northeast can enjoy new
playground components at Tauhara Park from next month.
The park, one of Hamilton’s most popular destination playgrounds, is about to refitted with two pieces of play equipment – a flying fox and a pyramid-shaped Condor cargo net.
Parks and Open Spaces Manager Sally Sheedy says the replacement of the two items is part of a renewals programme which involves new equipment fitted to a dozen playgrounds in Hamilton this year.
“Flying foxes are very popular pieces of play equipment in our parks, and children really love the thrill it gives them as they whizz along,” Miss Sheedy says.
“The pyramid shaped cargo nets are in place in several other city playgrounds, and they give children the ‘King of the Castle’ feeling as they reach the top. Cargo nets also mean children can develop manual dexterity and physical skills.”
A similar cargo net is already installed at the Claudelands Park playground.
Construction of the new play equipment begins today (1 November), and is expected to take about four weeks. The rest of the playground equipment will be available for use while the new items are installed.
