2012 Christmas Day Bus Service 25 December 2012
In 2011 the
volunteer run Christmas Day Public Bus Service was such a
success that it will be returning for 2012 to benefit more
visitors and residents of Dunedin.
Usually Dunedin City comes to a grinding halt for public transport on Christmas Day and the residence and visitors of our city have to resort to other means of getting around. The Otago Heritage Bus Society Inc. are proud to announce a public bus service will be operated between St. Clair, the Octagon and Normanby for Christmas Day 2012.
The service will depart St Clair on the hour and Normanby on the half hour. The first departure will be 9am from St. Clair. A detailed timetable is available to be downloaded from our website otagoheritagebus.co.nz
This year we will have a special appearance of the Society’s latest acquisition; a Dunedin built Leyland Leopard, built by Emslie Consolidated, a South Dunedin firm in 1976. This vehicle for the past decade has been outside in the elements near Ashburton, she arrived in Dunedin mid-September and the volunteers have been busy preparing the vehicle for re-compliance to become once again a passenger endorsed vehicle, including painting her in to the 1970’s Dunedin City Corporation Transport livery.
Volunteers operate this service and proceeds go to further restoration projects of the Otago Heritage Bus Society Inc.
The fare is by gold coin donation; or for an all day ticket $5. Unfortunately we do not give concessions or have ‘Go Card’ facilities available on our heritage bus service.
