Join Kev the kiwi and explore the Hutt Valley
this summer
Bring the family and join the larger-than-life character Kev the Wandering Kiwi this summer as he explores regional parks and forests in the Hutt Valley.
There are three free guided walks suitable for all ages organised by Hutt City Council, Upper Hutt City Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council.
Hutt City Council’s recreation and events manager Duncan Chisholm says joining Kev for a walk is a great way to spend time with friends and family while staying active during the holiday season.
“Kev is a cuddly mascot who is always a hit with children. He adds a fun flavour to these family-friendly walks which are designed to get Hutt Valley residents ‘out and about’ during summer.”
All walks are family friendly and are ideal for picnics. After each walk, participants can enjoy a free coffee courtesy of Caffé L’affare.
Each walk starts at 10.30am and take about 1 and a half hours to complete.
3 January – Hutt River Trail, Poets Park, north off SH2 after Moonshine Bridge, Upper Hutt. This walk is also a Sport Wellington Buggy walk.
10 January – Gum Loop Track, Wainuiomata Recreation Area, end of Whitcher Grove, Wainuiomata.
17 January – Tane’s Track, Tunnel Gully Recreation Area, end of Plateau Road, Upper Hutt.
