Urgent Water Shutdown for Stratford: Updated

Urgent Water Shutdown for Stratford

As of tonight, Monday 17 December 2012 from 8.00pm, until 6.00am Tuesday 18 December 2012, Stratford’s main water line will be shut down. This will result in little to no water to anyone connected to the Stratford water supply.

Residents are being asked to conserve water by not using appliances during the shutdown period. For any drinking water required during the shutdown period, please fill water bottles before 8.00pm today.

This urgent maintenance is due to damages to the main line causing leaking and the possibility of rupturing the line. The Stratford District Council’s only option is to turn off the water supply, allowing time to fix the problem.

Once the water is back on from 6.00am tomorrow it may be discoloured in some areas of town. Run the water until any discolouration has disappeared and the water is running clear again.

Stratford District Council apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. For any queries please contact the council on (06) 765 6099.

UPDATE The urgent water shutdown for Stratford tonight is cancelled. The waterpipe that was due for urgent maintenance has burst.

Contractors are currently onsite and repairing the pipe.

Residents will notice loss of water immediately. Although it cannot be guaranteed water is hoped to be established by 6.00pm tonight. Check for updates on Council’s website, www.stratford.govt.nz
