Tuakau Library is Stocking Its Shelves

11 February 2013

Calling All Avid Readers, Tuakau Library is Stocking Its Shelves

Tuakau Library users now have access to a wider range of reading material thanks to a constant flow of new books hitting the shelves.

The new stock comes as a result of Waikato District Council recognising the need to replenish the library’s collection to meet the council’s collections policy and Long Term Plan objectives.

Stakeholder Relations general manager Jo Ireland said the council’s collections policy stipulates an average age for a collection and Tuakau Library’s adult fiction needed updating to meet the criteria.

Ms Ireland said other collections within the library would also be replenished.

“All non-fiction and fiction is included in the refresh. We want our collection to be contemporary with as much variety as much as possible.”

The refresh is expected to take around two years to complete, after which new titles will continue to be purchased at the usual rate.

Library users can expect new releases from popular authors such as Lee Child, Karen Rose and Marian Keyes.

Ms Ireland said customers could also have a say in what books they would like to see on the shelves.

“Customers have already been letting us know which titles they are wanting, which is great. We have feedback forms in the library for this purpose and requests are welcomed.”
