‘BorrowBox’ innovation offers easy access to library e-audiobooks
ROTORUA 11.02.13: Rotorua Library has launched 'BorrowBox', an online application which allows library members to download e-audiobooks straight to their laptops, computers, tablets or smartphones without having to go through the library catalogue or website.
An e-audiobook is a downloadable sound recording of a book.
Library marketing & promotions officer Sue Heke said that the launch of the ‘BorrowBox’ mobile app meant library members can now download their favourite titles no matter where they are, and at any time of the day or night.
“’BorrowBox’ is so handy and it’s really easy to use. Library members simply download the app onto their smartphone, tablet or computer and they’re ready to access our catalogue of over 900 e-audiobooks.
“The good thing about e-audiobooks is the user can go about their business, exercise or recreation while the story is read to them.
“It’s the latest in a growing list of initiatives and events added to our library’s resources, enabling members more access to good reading and opportunities to learn new skills.
“Our recent eBook initiative and ‘LibraryLive – Community in Action’ sessions have been very popular with Rotorua Library members, and we expect ‘BorrowBox’ to be just as successful.”
'BorrowBox' can be downloaded for free via Google Play or the Apple App Store.
