Setting The Challenge For Businesses

Setting The Challenge For Businesses

Auckland North businesses thrive under competition, according to the organiser of this year’s local business awards.

At an official awards launch in Albany, Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) challenged local companies to enter the 2013 Westpac Auckland North Business Awards and stand out as a success story in the region.

More than 150 local business people attended the launch in Albany to hear the benefits of entering the annual awards.

ATEED’s Acting Manager Business Growth, Chris Lock, believes friendly rivalry and competition brings out the best in local businesses.

“Aucklanders pride themselves with facing challenges head on,” says Chris Lock. “We are challenging local businesses to harness this competitive spirit by entering the awards and seeing how they measure up in their community.

“It’s not only about competing with other companies, but discovering your businesses strengths and weaknesses, and using this insight to build a stronger organisation. It’s not a bad return for just filling out the entry form.”

Now in its 16th year, the awards celebrate the successes of businesses across all industries between the Auckland Harbour Bridge to Te Hana in the north and across to Kumeu.

Businesses of all sizes can enter up to three of eight categories, with all winners eligible for the Westpac Supreme Business Excellence Award.

Three extra awards, Best Emerging Business, Small Business of the Year and Best Medium to Large Business, will be selected from the overall entrant pool, where eligibility is met.

Entries in the annual business awards close on Friday, 14 June.
