Lakes Environmental Temporary Directors

Lakes Environmental Temporary Directors Media Release - Tuesday 2 April 2013

The Queenstown Lakes District Council today appointed additional directors to the Board of Lakes Environmental (LE) to manage the reintegration of its activities back into Council.

“Following constructive discussions with the current board members, Council as sole shareholder of LE, resolved to appoint two additional directors to assist with the transition of LE functions back into Council,” Mayor Vanessa van Uden said.

The two temporary directors are the Mayor and Chief Executive Adam Feeley.

It is anticipated that the number of directors would be reduced as the activities of LE were wound down and undertaken by Council.

The Mayor added that while there would be progressive changes over the coming months, Council reiterated that LE employees would be treated as if they were QLDC employees when it came to employment opportunities through the transition.

QLDC announced the appointment of temporary directors to the Lakes Leisure (LL) board last month.

“It is business as usual for the time being for all three organisations with the main benefit that QLDC, LL and LE staff are all able to be treated consistently in the review process,” Mayor van Uden said.
