Notice of change to the Fire Season

Please find below notice of a change to the Fire Season as of midnight Saturday 6 April


NOTICE OF
DOWNGRADING OF FIRE SEASON STATIS
FROM PROHIBITED TO AN OPEN FIRE SEASON


Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 22 of the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977, and Palmerston North City Council Bylaws. Due to the rain and lower temperatures that have reduced the Fire Danger sufficiently to allow changes to the Fire Season from midnight Saturday 6th April 2013 until further notice.

PLEASE NOTE:

The Palmerston North City Councils Rural Fire Area will move to an Open Fire Season as from Midnight Saturday the 6th April 2013 until further notice.

However Department of Conservation Land therein and any fire safety margins land bordering onto Palmerston North City Councils Rural Fire Area will remain as a Restricted Fire Season. (requiring a fire permit for the Department of Conservation).


Open Fire Season - Means that no Fire Permit is required to light a fire in the open air.

Restricted Fire Season – Means a Fire Permit is required to light a fire in the open air.


For all fire emergencies phone 111, and give your name, address, telephone number and rural number (if applicable).
