ANZAC Day Service – Thursday 25 April
Deputy Mayor Ngaire Button is encouraging people to attend Christchurch’s 2013 ANZAC Dawn Service. The Service will be held at Cranmer Square on Thursday 25 April. Residents are advised to get there early to see the parade prior to the service.
“ANZAC Day is a day of thanks and reflection and is imbedded in the hearts of all the people of New Zealand. In our Global economy, war is with us everyday on our televisions and ANZAC Day is an opportunity for New Zealand and Christchurch communities to come together to reflect on the courage of our servicemen and women, past and present, in times of conflict and in times of peace.
“For the people of Christchurch it is especially important we come together and remember. We have all been through a tough two years, but our sense of belonging and connection will be strengthened when we gather together on ANZAC Day to honour our fallen and those who have served,” she says.
Canterbury RNZRSA district vice-president Russ Barron advises people to get there early.
