‘Perceptions of Safety Survey’ gets underway

ROTORUA 23.04.13: Rotorua District Council’s (RDC) ‘Perceptions of Safety Survey’ gets underway today [23 April 2013].

Local company APR Consultants is conducting the survey over the next few weeks through telephone interviews, providing 400 randomly selected Rotorua residents with the opportunity to have their say on their perceptions of safety in Rotorua. They will also be asked about their awareness of local safety initiatives and about any experiences they may have had with crime.

RDC community safety projects officer Linda Johnston encourages local residents to participate.

“If you are one of the residents contacted by APR, please take a few minutes to provide us with your comments. This information helps council to evaluate the success of community safety projects, and gives us an indication of which areas we need to improve on, and where more support is needed in our community.”

Ms Johnston said the online survey option allows a wider range of residents to have an input.

Rotorua residents aged 15 years and over are eligible to complete the survey. Everyone who completes the survey online will go into a draw to win a prize including family passes to Rotorua Aquatic Centre and a $50 Warehouse voucher.

The ‘Perceptions of Safety Survey’ is available on the RDC website rdc.govt.nz and APR website apr.co.nz, and through the Treasure Rotorua Facebook page.

Results are expected to be available by the end of August 2013.
