Transport Accident Investigation Commission Inquiry Complete

The Transport Accident Investigation Commission has completed its Marine Inquiry 12-201 Fishing Vessel Easy Rider capsize and foundering in Foveaux Strait on 15 March 2012 in which eight people died and one person survived.  The inquiry report will be released at 5am on Friday, 3 May 2013.
 
The Commission will hold a media briefing in the Level 6 Conference Room at the Kelvin Hotel, Cnr Kelvin & Esk Streets, Invercargill, beginning at 4pm on Thursday, 2 May 2013 when the report will be available for reading and the room for mic/camera set-up etc.  From 5pm Chief Commissioner John Marshall QC and Chief Investigator of Accidents Captain Tim Burfoot will make presentations and take questions.  The briefing is expected to finish by 6pm.
 
The content of the media briefing and the inquiry report are suppressed against unauthorised disclosure until 5am, Friday, 3 May 2013.  Unauthorised disclosure is an offence.  Please ensure all staff and systems handling report material before this time are aware of the suppression order.
 
The fact that the report is to be released Friday is not suppressed.
 
Mr Marshall will not be available for interview outside the briefing opportunity.
