Free family day at Masterton Genesis Centre
Free family day at Masterton Genesis Centre
Sunday May
19th 11.30am to 2.30pm is the annual free Family/Whanau Day
at the Genesis Recreation Centre.
Sandy Ryan, Manager Masterton Safe and Healthy Community Council say the event is such a success that it is now on everyone’s calendar. Funded by Masterton District Council the expo celebrates International Day of Families, which is themed “Strong Families, Strong Community”, and is a day of activities for families of all ages.
Free activities include soup, bread and cake lunches, face painting, reading with a child, creative sandwich making, maths is fun, table tennis, canoe polo, darts, wobble balloons, hand massages for the ladies, health checks, jump around gym activities, bubbles and volcanoes, colouring-in activities, experience a digital library, e-readers and e-books, hands-on science, free swirly apples and so much more.
Wairarapa Road Safety Council is bringing a “Buckle Up” trailer to the expo. The Buckle Up trailer replicates a car crash at 15kms per hour when you are seated wearing a seatbelt. Conducted under complete supervision you will leave the trailer knowing seatbelts save lives.
Once again the Family Expo will host
the Masterton Library demonstrating e-readers and the latest
library Internet technology with PC’s.
Nurses from
Compass Health will be in attendance, a chance to check
blood pressures while the children are aiming for a bullseye
on the dart board with Brenda Hokianga from Strengthening
Families.
Raffles will be offered at no cost; visit the participating organisations to enter. Entry to the indoor pool from 12.30 to 2.30pm requires a stamp on completion of the stadium activities.
