Flooding disruption update

Welfare centre in Mairehau open until 7pm to assist with localised flooding
As of 4.30pm no residents have registered at the welfare centre, set up at Mairehau Primary School. The Centre will close at 7pm this evening unless there is a demand to keep it open. If required, the Welfare Centre will be made available again.

The welfare centre will be located at:
* Mairehau Primary School, 43 Mahars Road, Mairehau.
* Contact details for Civil Defence Manager: (03) 941 8852.
* Welfare centre has been open from 12.30pm today Monday 17 June 2013.

Health awareness urged during flooding

Although the city's infrastructure responded well during the first day of rain, the ongoing nature of this current storm has now caused widespread flooding across Christchurch. It is possible that flooded waterways, parks, roads and individual properties may be contaminated with waste water. Care should be taken to avoid flood waters where possible. If you do come into contact with flood waters ensure that good hygiene measures (hand washing, removing and washing contaminated clothes etc) are taken.

The Christchurch City Council, Environment Canterbury and Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) are working together to ensure that this is resolved as soon as possible.

CERA Monitoring Red Zone
CERA will be monitoring the residential red zone, as well as the CBD rebuild zone and the Port Hills area, to ensure all residents are assisted through the current weather.
