Change of date for Property Review Hearings

12 July 2013
Change of date for Property Review Hearings

The high number of submissions made to the Property Review Hearing has led to a delay in the dates of the hearing.

Last year the Council reviewed its holdings and identified a number of properties that are delivering minimal or no value to the community. The identified properties, including some on reserve land were assessed by staff and were presented to Council for consideration. The proposal then went out for public consultation.

The aim of the consultation was to gauge whether there are values or uses for these properties that Council is unaware of.

Almost 300 submissions were received on the proposal.

Senior property and parks planner Aaron Phillips says initially he had hoped the hearings could be held on the 15th of July, however, with due to the sheer number of submitters that date has had to be moved to accommodate them all.

“It’s fantastic to get such a great response, however it is taking staff longer to process them all.”

The hearings will now be held on Wednesday 7th of August and, if required, Thursday 8th of August.

“I’d like to apologise for any inconvenience caused, however, Council needs to take the time to work through all of the submissions and the new dates provide the necessary time to do this,” he said.

All submitters are being advised of the change of date.
