One Day Closure of the City’s Libraries

One Day Closure of the City’s Libraries Planned for 1 August 2013

City Library and Community Services is changing to better meet the needs of our community. Anthony Lewis, City Librarian and General Manager, says “The way people live their lives has changed dramatically over the past decade: the way we interact and communicate; what we value; how we work and live. These are just some examples of things we need to be responsive to, to ensure that our services remain of value to our community”.

A one day closure of the city’s libraries is planned for 1 August 2013. “We will close our libraries for one day to concentrate on the professional development of our staff” said Mr Lewis. “We will take this opportunity to develop effective ways of meeting the evolving needs of our community. It will also be a day of learning and celebration”.
