The Kapiti Emergency Operations Centre has been activated

The Kapiti Emergency Operations Centre has been activated
Press Release
Kapiti District Council

The Kapiti Emergency Operations Centre has been activated and continues to monitor continuing seismic activity in the region.

So far damage in Kapiti has been limited to objects falling off shelves in homes and businesses.

Pak’nsave supermarket has reported products tumbling off shelves. There have been reports of fire alarms and sprinklers being activated and of some water tobys and pipes possibly breaking.

Residents are being advised to secure any objects, prepare emergencies supplies and to stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary.

If another significant shake is felt to the point where people are unable to stay on their feet, residents in tsunami zones should evacuate.
