Book a librarian

Book a librarian

Dunedin (Monday 22 July) - Members of the public can now book a librarian for one-on-one help with queries that can’t readily be answered at the public desks.
Library staff can arrange a time to talk customers though how to use Library computers, search the catalogue, set up an email account, download eBooks or eAudio, help with a research topic or any other enquiry.

Librarians will continue to answer questions at the time help is sought, but they can refer the customer to this service if it becomes apparent more time or expertise is needed.

Dunedin Public Libraries Information Services Librarian Anne-Maree Wigley says, ”Our staff are great at answering customer enquiries, but these days, many library resources require technology to access them and it can take time to address all customer’s needs. By booking a librarian, the customer will have one-on-one time with a staff member, with the session tailored to their individual need, away from the pressure of other people in a queue. This service is about providing opportunities for the development of lifelong learning skills, and awareness of library resources.”

The booking form is available at www.dunedinlibraries.govt.nz/book-a-librarian and at all public desks and the appropriate staff will contact the customer to arrange a time to meet. The service is available in all Dunedin Libraries.
