Inspiration for Hastings communities
The public is being invited to
become part of a national initiative for inspiring
communities.
Inspiring Communities was formed in 2008 in an effort to enhance the recognition and understanding of community-led development and promote the difference that people have made throughout the country.
Barbara MacLennan from Inspiring Communities will visit Hastings to talk with a wide range of people, agencies and community groups about how community led development has worked around the country including some local examples. She will also provide information on how to get a project underway.
Hastings District Council is keen that residents take the lead in reinvigorating their neighbourhoods, and would like to see local communities, agencies and non-government organisations work together to build strength and resilience.
The talks will provide some useful ideas and practical tools on how to get things happening in your community. There will also be a chance to tell your story and what you are learning about your community.
Everyone is welcome to hear Barbara MacLennan speak at two free meetings. On Tuesday 30 July 2013 she will be at Te Aranga Marae, Boston Terrace, Flaxmere between 1:30 and 3:30pm and at the Havelock North Community Centre from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Finger food and tea/coffee will be provided.
Space is limited so please register your interest at www.hastingsdc.govt.nz/community-led or phone 871 5000.
