Victory Parade for Champion Chiefs

Victory Parade for Champion Chiefs

3 August 2013

For Immediate Release

Investec Super Rugby champions the Chiefs will celebrate their victory with a parade through central Hamilton on Tuesday.

The Hamilton-based team, who defeated the Brumbies in Saturday night’s final at Waikato Stadium, will parade down Hamilton’s Victoria Street, from 12 noon, Tuesday 6 August.

The parade will start at Knox Street, and culminate in Garden Place, with an official city congratulations to the team.

Hamilton Mayor Julie Hardaker says this is the city’s way of saying thanks to the Chiefs.

“The Chiefs have thrilled us with their play this season and capped it off with a back-to-back title win on their home ground.”

“We really want the Chiefs supporters to have a chance to celebrate with the team and say goodbye to some players who will be ending their season with the franchise” added Mayor Hardaker.

The parade down Victoria Street will be under the control of a rolling Police road closure.
