Wellington Earthquake Update 2 New Zealand Fire Service

Calls to the Fire Service have tailed off following this afternoon’s earthquake and there have been no reports of serious damage in Wellington

Crews were called on to rescue three groups of people from lifts and have responded to a large number of alarm activations.

There has been some glass fall into Chews Lane which has been closed.  Lukes Lane has also been closed for safety reasons.

In Marlborough, the Fire Service has received over 20 calls from people reporting fallen chimneys, there have been three grass fires sparked by fallen power lines in the Seddon area, and near Ward there has been a report of a house fallen slightly on its piles.

There will be no further updates unless the situation changes.
