The NZ Transport Agency has lodged an application with us for the Ara Tūhono - Pūhoi to Wellsford Road of National Significance: Pūhoi to Warkworth section.
We are now assessing NZTA's application to determine whether it has provided all the necessary information.
Once we are satisfied the application is complete, we will provide the Minister for the Environment and the Minister for Conservation with our recommendation on whether the proposal meets the legal requirements to be considered a proposal of national significance.
It is up to the Ministers to decide whether this proposal is nationally significant, and whether it should be considered by a board of inquiry, the Environment Court, or referred to the local authority.
