Vote Local – Vote Peter Chan!
It seems the Waitakere ward is being high-jacked by carpet baggers with only one top-tier candidate being able to genuinely represent an area he calls home. That candidate is Affordable Auckland’s Peter Chan. “It is important to me that a councillor can properly represent the people that vote them in. As a genuine Waitakere local, I know I can do that better than any other.”
Peter Chan has been a tireless advocate for Waitakere for twelve years, having spent three terms on the Waitakere City Council and most recently representing the Henderson-Massey Local Board. “I have a wealth of local experience and an intimate knowledge of the issues that really matter to residents of Waitakere struggling to make ends meet. While some out of ward pretenders seek to take this ward for the sake of political convenience, Waitakere voters can feel safe in the knowledge that the issues of this area are close to my home and heart. Waitakere is not a horse to ride to political power.”
Whether a candidate lives in the ward they seek to represent is clearly important to voters, with a stuff.co.nz poll showing 76.4% of voters would not vote for a local politician that does not live in the area they seek to represent. Penny Hulse, Brian Neeson, Linda Cooper and Christine Rose all live outside of the Waitakere ward. Based on this polling, the overwhelming majority of voters do not think those candidates are suitable to represent Waitakere on the Auckland Council.
Clearly Peter Chan is the only credible option for Waitakere voters that seek a councillor with experience, a track record of fiscal responsibility and a true advocate for locals. “The interests and well-being of my friends, neighbours and community are what drives me to stand as a candidate for Waitakere this election. Voters should be asking of my out-of-ward opponents, what drives them?”
Peter Chan is Affordable Auckland’s candidate for Waitakere ward. Other Affordable Auckland candidates are Stephen Berry for Mayor, Waitemata & Gulf ward and Waitemata Local Board; Heidi Bale for Whau Local Board and Niko Kloeten for Franklin ward and Franklin (Pukekohe subdivision) Local Board.
