Delays on Glenorchy Road

Delays on Glenorchy Road

Motorists can expect rolling delays of up to ten minutes on a short stretch of the Glenorchy Road from Tuesday 17 September until Friday 27 September while routine slope stabilisation is carried out at the 12 Mile Bluffs.

While the work is underway, traffic will be able to move through every hour on the hour as well as every ten minutes through the day.

The rolling delays will occur between 9am and 4.30pm on weekdays only and have been timed to minimise inconvenience to commuters and regular road users. The maximum wait at any time will be ten minutes.

QLDC contractors will be carrying out abseil scaling to remove loose material and inserting rock bolts where necessary to stabilise rocks. The techniques are widely used on rocky bluffs throughout the district roading network, including the Kawarau Gorge.
