Auckland Home Show Hotter than the Auckland Property Market
The national building boom has set the foundation for the hottest Auckland Home Show in years, opening today at the ASB Showgrounds in Greenlane, Auckland.
Auckland Home Show organiser Amanda Magnus says that exhibitors are looking forward to the highest-energy opening to the event since the global financial crisis.
“We haven’t seen this much positivity in years. And that means strong demand for every kind of product and service, especially kitchens, bathrooms, landscaping and building services – all the things that the Auckland Home Show is famous for,” says Magnus.
More than 500 exhibitors, ranging from kitchen and bathroom companies, appliances, building products, interior design and renovation experts, futuristic gadgets, labour-saving and life-enhancing products will spend the next five days selling, marketing and giving away their expert knowledge with passion at the show.
Rachel Louie, managing director of Applico, the distributor of Smeg and Baumatic appliances, says the firm wants to create a memorable customer experience with their display this year.
“It’s not just about appliances, it’s also about good design, inspiration and lifestyle choices,” she says.
SMEG and Baumatic have been exhibitors at the Auckland Home Show for 20 years, and this is their most exciting, innovative and interactive stand yet. Their ‘Smeg Cooking Theatre’ is where visitors can see live cooking demonstrations by world class chefs, led by Paul Jobin, former executive chef at The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs.
The extremely popular ‘Kids Can Cook’ competition also returns, where children submit their own recipes and then compete in a cook-off to find New Zealand’s ultimate child chef.
And 'The Working Space’ feature will be all about homes of the future, showing how technology will be used and integrated in living spaces. More than a dozen companies are involved giving visitors the opportunity to experience the future of appliances, surfaces, colour, touchscreen interactive technology, gardening, interior and spatial design.
Alongside the big names are hundreds of smaller companies offering something for absolutely everyone, from the greenest rural retreat to the urban loft, including the indoors and the outdoors.
This year there is a focus on interaction with experts such as renovation expert Murray Kee from Finesse Residential and interior designer specialist Amanda Neill from Designworx, providing relevant and helpful tips on how to improve visitors’ projects.
Resene ‘Design Renovate Decorate Seminars’ provide further design inspiration and the ever-popular ‘Green Urban Living Seminars’ will demonstrate how to bring sustainability into daily home life. The Auckland Landscape Supplies ‘Walk of Gardens’ and HotSpring Spas ‘Street of Houses’ will showcase landscaping trends and alternative housing options.
As always, visitors are urged to bring their plans and save thousands of dollars on advice, products and services with show specials, discounts and competitions and have a chance to win an ultimate spa package from HotSpring Spas worth $25,270.
Fans of the Block NZ can meet some of the stars of the TV show at 1:30pm this Saturday 14 September at the Auckland Home Show. The programme’s co-host Shannon Ryan will MC a session that features 2012 Block NZ winners Libby and Ben Crawford, building supervisor Peter Wolfkamp, and judges Janice Kumar-Ward and Jeremy Hansen.
This year, an Auckland Home Show first, an APP has been launched which includes competitions, maps, show specials, new products, timetables and links to social media. The Home Show APP eShowbag delivers users well over $50,000 in renovation savings.
