Papanui Metro Office to Close On Friday

Papanui Metro Office to Close On Friday

The Metro Office at 37 Main North Road will close its doors this Friday, 20 September.

The building housing the office does not meet code compliance and the premises are being closed, says Environment Canterbury which runs the bus passenger transport service.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and ask that people wanting new Metrocards and top ups please visit a Metro agent or stop by at the Metroinfo kiosk at Central Station in Lichfield St,” said David Stenhouse, Passenger Services Manager.

Metrocards cannot be bought on buses, but need to be purchased and topped up at agencies throughout greater Christchurch.  Agencies operate at CPIT’s main campus in Madras St as well as its Sullivan Ave premises, at the University of Canterbury Students’ Association in Ilam, and at the Hornby, Lyttelton, New Brighton, Spreydon and Upper Riccarton libraries.

There are also agencies at the Rangiora Library, the Rolleston Library and the Lincoln University Students’ Association.

Customers requiring replacement Metrocards will now need to visit Central Station.

Identification such as a driver’s licence, birth certificate, passport, Cando Card or school identification with name and date of birth, must be sighted by staff before a new or replacement Metrocard can be issued.

Cards cost $10 and a minimum of $10 must be loaded on in order for the card to work.  Top ups can then occur, with a minimum of $10 and multiples of $10.
