Media advisory: Applications for district licensing committee close next week

Waikato District Council is reminding people if they wish to be a part of a new district licensing committee responsible for considering all alcohol licence applications in our district they need to apply by next Tuesday, 1 October.

Council is seeking expressions of interest from people who would like to be part of the committee, which is a new requirement as part of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.

Applicants must have knowledge of the Act, have relevant experience, and possess well developed investigative, decision making and communication skills. They should also have knowledge of the harmful effects of alcohol and must not be involved in the alcohol industry or have any appearance of bias.
